'Dressing modestly is my way of telling the world I don’t play by your rules – I play by God’s rules.' – Unknown
As teen girls in a world full of crop tops and 'the-more-skin-the-sexier', it can be hard to dress in a way that is honoring to God. We are called to glorify God in all we do, including how we dress and how we carry ourselves. Should we want to be a stumbling block to our brothers and sister in Christ by dressing in a way that points to ourselves rather than to God? As well as being a stumbling block to Christians, should you want to hinder the unbeliever from finding Christ? I hope your answer to both questions, dear "Lilies", is no. As Christians we should want to point to Christ and share his light to those around us who are in the dark, but if we are dressed in a way that draws attention to different areas of our body, then it could be hard for those we talk with to be able to focus on what we are telling them about.
'Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.' 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
It can be hard to find modest pieces though, or at least modest items with modest price tags as well. Summer also makes it harder to find pieces that are glorifying to God. With the high temperatures and blazing sun, just the thought of wearing a long jean skirt may make you want to scowl and die of heat exhaustion, but modesty doesn't mean you have to look like a rag doll and sweat like a dog in summer! In fact, you can look cute and feel cool while dressing in a way that is honoring to your Father in Heaven!
'Modesty is more than just a hemline, it is an interior disposition that influences not only our dress, but our thoughts and actions.' --- Leah Darrow*See Note
Many trending clothes that we see at the store are immodest, but that doesn't mean we can't use the items to dress modestly. A low-cut shirt paired with a higher tank-top, a pair of tighter jeans put with a longer shirt or short dress, a t-shirt worn underneath a sundress, these are all ways you can "fix" summer outfits and still look cute!
And remember, dear "Lilies", you don't have to be "trending", or "cool", for in fact we are called to be set-apart. God sees you and He looks at the inward appearance, while men look at the outward.
'And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. ' Romans 12:2

This is so important and true❤️
